Roadshow HorecaExpo 2007
Report from Roadshow Horeca Expo in the “Tri-City” (Gdansk – Gdynia –Sopot) and Krakow - May 24th and 31st, 2007
The first meeting in the cycle of Roadshow HorecaExpo – Exhibition of the latest IT solutions for catering and hospitality sectors sessions took place in the ‘Tri-City’, and to be precise – in the nearby town of Reda on May 24th, 2007. A week later, on May 31st, it was reiterated in Krakow. We are happy that the exhibition invoked such enormous interest. The participants had the unique opportunity to enjoy the most innovative IT solutions designed for their sectors.
Exhibition and Conference
During Roadshow HorecaExpo, apart from the exhibition, the participants were able to participate in multiple presentations offered by our experts. The presentations pertained to the most valid problems experienced by hotel and restaurant managers.
Conference topics
One of the subjects discussed how to increase the profitability of restaurants and hotels. The participants learned some specific solutions leading to an improved profitability. These included the warehouse management improvements offered in POSitive Resturant, Inventory Control System and BarVision systems, sales management in POSitive Hospitality family systems, solutions for communication between the kitchen and waiters or supporting the kitchen production process management via Kitchen Display System.
The matters related to restaurant guest handling quality control, also by means of paging systems for guests and waiters - Server Paging System and Push for Service were also discussed. The application of those systems yields various advantages: they accelerate guest handling by the easy transmission of orders, increase the rotation at the tables, raise the average bill amount, control the appropriate temperature of served dishes, register the time expiring from the order placing or bill request, and reduce the number of unused seats.
Much interest was raised by the topic related to database security. Microsoft SQL Server transactional databases, guaranteeing the data security and the appropriate data replication providing the efficient data exchange in large deployments, e.g. restaurant chains, and also offering automation of the archiving processes were discussed.
During the Roadshow we also offered a presentation on IT infrastructure designing. The difference between a single location and facility chain was discussed as an important factor for equipment selection. The presenter focused mostly on those elements which should be closely reviewed during designing the IT infrastructure for the enterprise.
We also touched on the problem of streamlining the usage of hotel rooms, e.g. through increasing the efficiency, improving the work ergonomics and the appropriate tools, and also through the provision of versatile executive data with the use of POSitive Hotel software. The discussion of examples of implementations in the catering and hospitality industry also gathered a special interest.
High assessment from the participants
We feel honored that so many professionals from the catering and hospitality sectors participated in the Roadshow HorecaExpo. At the end of each Roadshow, an event-assessment survey was performed. It proved that Roadshow HorecaExpo satisfied the expectations of the participants, and the manner of presenting the information, as well as the competence of the presenters , was very highly assessed.
We would like to thank the people , who participated in previous Roadshow HorecaExpo events.
